Hill’s old and mouldy left sleeve is grasped by Watt. “Please take
me with you...,” he pleads. “No one wants me here. I am a burden and
everyone is unhappy because of me.”
Hill looks at Watt’s disappointed face with loneliness and emptiness
behind his eyes, realising that he is serious. “Sure.”
The wooden door is forced open and house guards holding huge
candlesticks arrive. Meanwhile, two dark figures in the shadow flash by near
            the window on the wall.
“Oh, he just fled through the window,” shouts the annoyed
housekeeper, glancing the area around the room, “God, young master has
            been taken by him!”
Pop, the candle in the housekeeper’s hand goes out. No one discovers
a hot wheaten loaf of bread is on the little wooden bedside table.
“Ridiculous! Go to Scotland Yard and report this to Inspector Walker
            immediately!” declares Mr. Bruton angrily.
“Yes, Sir,” answers a house guard, running downstairs.
Hill and Watt run into an alley just near the tailor’s shop. Hill is
checking carefully if someone is following them. “We are safe now.”
“Why are you taking the risk of being arrested to visit me secretly?”
            Watt panting for breath asks.
“Because,” Hill begins, “I do sympathize with you. I saw your mother.
She does not love you at all. You are just like me, no one wants me, too.”
            He bends his head slowly.
An old gentleman stumbles by, it is the nice Mr. Holmes, the tailor.
He always smiles. He has a wrinkly face with two dimples. “Oh, it is
midnight, why are you here?” Mr. Holmes talks to Hill and Watt.
