Good evening, everyone.
I'm Chris Wong from Green Action. It is my pleasure to speak with
you all. In honour of Earth Day, my colleagues and I decided to attempt
eating only environmentally friendly food for two weeks, and I'd like to
share this experience with you all.
To start with, you might ask, "There are so many ways to be
green. Why did you particularly choose to look into the subject of
environmentally friendly food?" Hmm, strange, huh? Well, the reason
is simple, that is, we've recently taken notice of a huge problem in
Hong Kong ─ food waste. After looking at this issue, we found that
Hongkongers definitely need to raise their awareness of the ways to eat
green. All the artificial flavouring, preservatives, pesticides... Are they really
necessary to get the "looks" of your veggies? Though some of you may
already realise that environmentally friendly foods are not only better for
our planet, but also our health, we understand that someone must step up
and be the first one to try. So here we are!
Moving on, you might ponder: so how was the two weeks of green
eating? What did we do? Did we use solar panels to cook our food? Did
we go on a vegetarian diet? Hey... Relax! Actually, being environmentally
friendly when it comes to eating isn't as sophisticated as you think. There
were only two core rules: local and organic.
First of all: eat local food. Eat "local"? You might ask, "Why shouldn't
we eat imported foods?" Well, think about all the transportation it takes
