Lying on soft grassland twinkling in a shining golden yellow, Leonardo
gazed at the sky with a wide smile. Wind was in the air. The white powdery
clouds moved slowly in the vast blue. The trees swayed gently in the breeze.
Fat, thick and broad leaves danced a quiet round of waltz, and fell down as if
they were feathers. A naughty one landed on the tip of the nose of Leonardo.
He gave it a gentle blow, and watched it rise into the air once more.
‘Winter is coming...’ Leonardo thought, frowning worryingly. ‘Well,
we have enough in stock... Hopefully, our dried strawberries and fish will
help us survive through the hellish freeze.’ Thinking of the fully stuffed
food cabinet in his cave, he chuckled and stood up, putting his daily break
after fishing to an end.
‘Good harvest today. Lots of fish! Must be that rain yesterday... The
cold water must have woken the fish up,’ he exclaimed to himself. Within
seconds, Leonardo swung the fish which was neatly tied with dried grass
into a bunch up on his back, and hurried back home.
Thump, thump, thump... Lisa turned her head to see who was
drawing near. Lisa was a beautiful woman with rosy cheeks. Then, it was
clear to Lisa that her husband had returned. She put their dinner on the
table ─ beans and lemon grass.
‘Home, darling?’ she said.
‘Yep. What’s for dinner?’ Leonardo answered cheerfully, generously
giving Lisa a big hug, hands tightly holding her waist.
‘Beans and lemon grass.’
‘Beans and lemon grass? What? Lisa, we aren’t that poor! Where are
the berries and fish? I’m sure we have more than enough...’
‘No!’ Lisa interrupted quickly and took a deep breath. ‘Leo, no... I just
