Dear Editor,
I am writing in response to the article “Will the Internet benefit
young people in the future?” which was published on 30th April in the
Daily Post. It was argued in the article that the Internet is not likely to
benefit young people in the future. I am now going to express my feelings
and opinion on the issue.
To begin with, I agree that the Internet will become an even more
dangerous place, and harmful websites and stalking will become more
common. It is therefore recommended that Internet users run an anti-virus
program, as it can block out harmful websites and keep stalkers at bay. I do
not, however, agree that access to the Internet should be restricted. Young
people should be free to access the Internet. Recently, Internet expert James
Lee said that kids have a right to learn and no limitations on their sources
of information should be placed.
In the second place, I disagree with the writer’s position that the
Internet is not a good tool to learn more about the world. Games on the
Internet can be good and bring some benefits. Some online games can be
a type of e-learning. For example, the international website ‘Cyber School
Bus’ provides a great variety of games that can help teens to learn. Stop
Disasters and Food Force are games where players learn about natural hazards
and world hunger. While socializing with online friends can be seen as a
