waste of time, it allows teens to have their horizons broadened. Besides,
knowledge about the Internet can also help them to apply for a job more
easily. A prediction from NetwatchHK.com is that if young people possess
web skills and digital skills, they will be 25% more likely to get employed
or even earn 10% more compared to the ones who do not possess these
skills. Therefore the Internet can be a good tool for learning.
Last but not least, I disagree that the Internet is not accessible to the
poor. It may be unaffordable and expensive for them but nowadays, not
only have computer prices dropped, but the government also gives a lot
of financial support to the poor. The writer also pointed out that language
will also be a problem. However, translation software will be much more
advanced in the future. It will be possible for webpages to be translated into
different languages quickly and much more accurately. It is likely that the
‘digital divide’ that the writer talked about will shrink as the quality and
availability of Internet access will be better in the future.
To sum up, the Internet will benefit youngsters in the future as
technology will be more advanced. Although online dangers will remain
present, there will be ways to fight these. Therefore, I believe that the
World Wide Web will advance dramatically and youngsters will continue to
benefit from it.
Yours faithfully,
Mike Lau
